Qualitative progress report highlighting the progress, achievements and learnings.
Dear Colleagues, Donors and Friends who stood by us in these difficult times, As you read the pages of this report, I am sure the vivid images of pandemic, the plight of migrant labor families walking, cycling and hitching rides in trying to reach their distant villages will haunt you. Close to home, you have seen whole cities in lockdown with unskilled labourers facing loss of income and an uncertain future. Our appeals to provide food, soap, sanitizers and protective gears, met with your generous response. Our frontline workers and volunteers took risks to distribute them from early April onwards.
We are honoured to be done the task of carrying out COVID detection and treatment in the rural and backward areas of Bengal namely Hanspukur, Sunderban and Bankura. As desired, we built up a system to indentify total no. of people in the respective areas. Our volunteers ably assisted by the super visors visited each house, carried out necessary tests to indentify covid victims. At the same time no. of camps attended by the doctors (Medical Team) were held in all the areas for a cluster of 10-12 villages.
In the camps the doctors carried out full scale examination of the patients and indentified the covid positive persons. In serious cases, the patients were hospitalized and in other cases as recommended by the doctors patients were sent for home isolation. During such period our volunteers kept in touch with the patients and supplied them with medicines and food supplements.
You will see from the accompanying chart (Table-A ) that in respect of 257 villages covering 13.17 lac people only 13 people died,21808 patients recovered,5369 patiets were sent for home isolation as of now and rest were found to be covid negative. In the remaining months during the this pandemic situation, we will work on the experience acquired so far and hope to be more efficiencient and successful.
Lastly we have noticed that as against general ignorance in the beginning, great awareness among people both men and women about cleanliness and preventive measure against covid. These developments make us very hopeful for the future.
The very fact that only 606 people were required to be hospitalized out of about 13.17 lac , Home Visit by the community volunteers, awareness campaign and timely detections of symptoms by the doctors were proved success of the aims .
If you ask us about our learning’s in the last 11 months –Most vital lesson we learnt that home visit and testing in each case which confirms early detection are the best measure in covid treatment.
Table - A
|
Progress and Acheivement : From the data in table "A",it appears that total no. of Patients attended in the camps were 137094, out of which 30980 patients were detected as COVID symtomatic.Covid positive cases detected as per tests were 30980 which were the headache of Humanity Trust. Percentage analysis of recovery of these large no. of patients have been given in table 'A'.It appears that in home isolation percentage of recovery is 19.31% . This is very much remarkable in consideration of that very critical period. Recovery by application of medicine as stipulated by ICMR is 78.45 %. Sum total of recovery by these two processes is 97.76% which is better than any reputed recovery Centre .Therefore, it can be emphatically stated that Humanity Trust has achieved high quantitative and qualititative achievement in its treatment process.
